Plummer Youth Promise Receives $1M in State Funds through Economic Development Bill to Support Upcoming Capital Project
(Salem, MA) – The Massachusetts Legislature passed a wide-ranging $3.76 billion relief package to provide targeted energy assistance, support ongoing transportation needs, and invest in the state’s small businesses, caregivers, health care system, affordable housing, and efforts to fight climate change. Plummer Youth Promise is honored and grateful to receive $1M to support our upcoming capital project through this economic package.
“This is a game changer for the families and youth served by Plummer Youth Promise,” said Nicole McLaughlin, Plummer’s Executive Director, in response to the funding allocation for Plummer. “Our new campus will not only provide dignified living for youth in state care, but it will also serve as a powerful tool to propel them safely and quickly back to family by creating a trauma-informed environment that promotes healing and relationship building. We are proud to have the confidence of Senator Lovely and other local leaders as we work every day to set a higher standard of residential foster care not only here in Massachusetts but across the country while restoring Plummer’s historic 1867 campus to its full glory.”
“I am pleased to join my colleagues in the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives to pass an economic development package to support our families, residents, and businesses,” said Senator Joan B. Lovely (D-Salem).
Senator Joan Lovely was proud to work alongside Representatives Paul Tucker, Jerry Parisella, Sally Kerans, and Thomas Walsh to secure funding for the Second Essex District in the final economic development bill.
Plummer Youth Promise is deeply grateful for the ongoing advocacy by Senator Lovely and her colleagues to support all of Massachusetts’ families, including those who have children in the foster care system.
