Volunteer Opportunities
We are immensely grateful for the many people who have helped Plummer Youth Promise achieve our mission by volunteering. These opportunities range from short-term commitments like helping with mailings or events, providing a birthday cake or meal for our youth at Winter Island, to seasonal opportunities like holiday gift drives, to long-term commitments, like mentoring a young person.

“Plummer Youth Promise is a great organization, and I am so happy to be a small part of it. I have other organizations that I support, but this is the only one where I feel a real connection. You play a big role in helping me feel connected.”

Volunteer Spotlight
Sophie Gonzales has been volunteering with us at Plummer since she was seven years old. You heard that right, seven! Her mother, Amanda Gonzales, organizes our Holiday Gift Drive each year, and Sophie, along with her other siblings, are her right-hand elves.
Every winter, Sophie dedicates countless hours organizing, labeling, wrapping, and personalizing hundreds of individual gifts for Plummer youth and families. You can always count on Sophie to put her compassion, time, and effort into the gift drive to make it a success.
What is really special about Sophie is that she puts personalized touches on every gift for our youth. She pays close attention to youths’ favorite colors and themes based on their wish lists. Thanks to Sophie and her family, smiles light up on the faces of Plummer youth during the Holiday season when they see their name on the gift tag or because the wrapping paper used has their favorite character.
Sophie’s love for community service and volunteer work continues year-round! She created her own self-led community service project called Cookies For A Cause. She bakes cookies from scratch, sells and hand delivers them to her customers, and donates 100% of the proceeds to local nonprofit organizations, including Plummer Youth Promise. Sophie is also a full-time student and a competitive dancer, yet still manages to balance her time and give back to her community in various meaningful ways.
Sophie excels at any role and is an absolute joy to work with. She is friendly, positive, warm, and outgoing, and she makes you feel welcomed and connected as a fellow Plummer volunteer. Her passion, can-do attitude, and team-building skills inspire all. We will miss her when she leaves for college, and we cannot wait to hear about all of the amazing things she will accomplish. Thank you, Sophie!
