Summer- Run

Winter- Snowboard/X-Country ski.

Lake Placid, NY

How to you prepare for each race?

I’m a closet chubby kid, so nutrition is without a doubt the most important part of my training.

What’s your training routine like in the off season?

Living in such a cold environment, it is easy to get complacent. So x-country skiing and running for cardio and at least 3 days a week in the gym.  Gotta keep the core strong.

What brings you to Paddle for Plummer every year?

Well, in a World where it is hard to put dollars away for the future and so easy to get into a grind of personal gains, you have to stop and think about others. When introduced to this cause, it just seemed right for me. Adding in the great community of people, and of course the amazing venue, it is easy to circle this one on the calendar each year.

Anything else you’d like to add?

I’m generally hard to find event day, due to my child like stature. Be sure to please swing by the NRS tent the morning of the race or after you finish to say hello.  Always looking to meet the great people that support Paddle for Plummer.

Contact me: If short, moderately old, closet chubby kids on the race course inspire you, and feel the need to reach out…I am always happy to find new friends.  Get me at danny@nrs.com

Where is your favorite place to paddle?

On my home turf! Back channels of Piscataqua River in Portsmouth, NH.

What do you do when you’re not paddling?

I am a teacher but in my free time I enjoy hiking and exploring with my dog, surfing, yoga, and pretty much anything outside. I am also a Holistic Nutritionist and I love helping people reach their goals!

Where are you from?

I am from Long Island, New York and I went to college in Wilmington, North Carolina

How do you prepare for each race?

I normally look at the distance and make a plan to build up to it with shorter paddles during the week and longer ones on Saturdays. I usually try to do a practice run a few weeks before if it is a new distance and than ween off and rest my body leading up to the actual event. For smaller races of 3-6 miles, however, I tend to train consistently throughout since they tend to fall every weekend!

What’s your training routine like in the off season?

I still work out 5 days a week (minimum) and I also do two additional endurance workouts each week.

What brings you to Paddle for Plummer every year?

The kids!  It’s amazing to not only raise money for this awesome place, but to be there and to see the kids that you are impacting is absolutely incredible.  I love being there knowing that I am part of something bigger than myself.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Tacos are the bomb.

Where is your favorite place to paddle?

Monk’s Cove – Monument Beach

What do you do when you’re not paddling?

I’m a Paralegal at a Software & Services Company located on Cape Cod. When I am not sitting behind a desk reviewing contracts, I am working out at Seaside CrossFit, SUP Surfing, Wakeboarding, Rock Climbing, Ice Climbing, watching my son play baseball or hanging with my three fur babies and husband.

Where are you from?

Born and raised in Sandwich, MA, moved to Mashpee and now reside in Bourne. I am a true native of Cape Cod.

How do you prepare for each race?  I train when the weather and the seas are not at their greatest because it prepares me to be ready for whatever the conditions may be for the race. During the week I paddle shorter distances combined with CrossFit and TRX training and leave the long distance paddling for the weekends. The week before I keep it to sprints and shorter paddles with an increase in strength and conditioning along with some specific muscle stretches through Yoga. Hydrate, Hydrate, and Hydrate as much as I can leading up to the night before the race. Finally, on the night of the race I go over the race course, check the weather and get in a lot of protein.

What’s your training routine like in the off season?

In the off season, I increase my Cross-training to include running, yoga, TRX, CrossFit and winter paddling.

What brings you to Paddle for Plummer every year?

I love the vibe at Paddle for Plummer because even though it is a race, you have an amazing group of paddlers gathered for a great cause and as much as we are all competitive, there is support of each other that day on and off the water.

Where is your favorite place to paddle?
I love my home in Long Beach, NY. Good waves and lots of dolphins and whales in the late summer and fall

What do you do when you’re not paddling?
I spend an inordinate amount of time working (investment banking) and when I’m not doing that I love to surf, train, and hang with my 7 rescue pups.

Where are you from?
Pebble Beach, CA

How do you prepare for each race?
I have some great training programs from Mick di Betta and Larry Cain (Paddle Power Trainer and Paddle Monster, respectively). I try to taper and get good rest before the really important races. Otherwise, good food (sweet potatoes and greens, usually) and sleep are really important. And on race day, it’s about being focused but most importantly being grateful that I get to go out there and do it each time.

What’s your training routine like in the off season?
I love the Paddle Monster training for the winter. Some good base building in the gym (both cardio and strength) and then getting on the water when I can. I’m also loving the rowing erg this year. Hopefully, it will help me next season.

What brings you to Paddle for Plummer every year?
A lot of heart and soul goes into the event and it shows. It’s such an important and tangible cause. The venue is beautiful and I just love connecting with everyone there.

Anything else you’d like to add?
Put this event on your list for 2018!!!
